We have just recently added two new wines to our tasting menu.
The first is a 2007 Zinfandel from the Monte Rosso Vineyard in Sonoma Valley. This is a bold Zinfandel with enticing aromas of dark chocolate and mocha with hints of cherry. The cherries carry through to the mouth and are backed up with cracked black pepper and slight hints of tobacco, plum and violets. Fresh acidity and dry medium tannins finish of this well balanced wine. This Zinfandel would pair well with steak as well as a gorgonzola or brie cheese.
The second is a 2006 Petit Verdot from Speedy Creek Vineyards in Knights Valley. Typically one would see Petit Verdot blended with any of the Bordeaux varietals. Very rarely do you see bottles of 100% Petit Verdot. This wine has a lovely deep ruby red color with hints of black licorice, blackberries and smoked spices on the nose. This particular Petit Verdot tastes very earthy and has a strong tannin structure rounding out the fruit and spice. The wine is fairly dry with a full body and excellent balance and check out those legs!! This Petit Verdot would pair well with a big juicy steak.
Both wines are available to taste in the tasting room, or online for purchase for the next few weeks.
Enjoy! ~ Lucy
